Our baker, Dorema Kutner, has been perfecting her pastry skills since she was tall enough to reach the oven. Her passion for pastries started from the first time she made rolls with her Grandma Paehlke. Since then she has been making cookies, cakes and pastries at home and in culinary school.
Throughout her life she has watched her Great Grandmother, Grandmother, Mother and Aunt Tanya bring smiles to many people through the art of pastries. Her Great Grandmother was the family baker until she passed away at the amazing age of 100. Her infamous icebox cookies were fought over by all of her children and grandchildren.
Dorema's Grandmother then took over the title of family baker with her amazing yeast rolls and classic Russian tea cookies. Adored by all, and referred to as Grandma Paehlke by her grandchildren and friends, her many baked goods were baked with love and shipped throughout the United States to friends and family.
Dorema's mother, with her amazing retail skills, managed several of the famous Fannie Farmer Chocolates stores in Ohio. Her mother's experience and knowledge of the chocolates and sweets industry has been built up over many years of perfect practice. Watching her mother make chocolates and sell them in the shop was a great influence on Dorema's personal love of all things delicious.
Dorema's Aunt Tanya is a best friend, and unofficial sister of her mother's. Her Aunt Tanya mentored, managed and worked with her mother in the Fannie Farmer Chocolates company up until the day it closed its doors for good. She has very successfully managed chocolate shops all her life and continues her love of chocolates by now managing a chocolate shop in Ohio.
Observing and participating with all of these amazing women baking and creating sweets has been more than inspirational to Dorema. Now, after all these years of great icons in her life, and having pronounced as the family baker, Dorema has her own bakery to carry on her family tradition by bringing delicious handcrafted cookies and pastries to her customers. Enjoy!
